Wire Binding

Pros

  • Punching pages & threading onto wires can be time consuming & fiddly – particularly for larger documents
  • A number of different wire sizes are needed to bind all sizes of document

Plastic Coil Binding

Pros

  • Binds from 1 to 130 sheets
  • Documents lie totally flat when opened
  • Pages fold 360° for easy photocopying
  • Incredibly strong & flexible bind
  • Documents have an attractive modern appearance
  • Quick & simple process (pages can all be threaded onto the coil at the same time)

Cons

  • Punching pages can be time consuming
  • A number of different coil sizes are needed to bind all sizes of document

Thermal Binding (wrap around cover with an integral glue strip)

Pros

  • Binds from 1 to 450 sheets
  • Several documents can be bound simultaneously
  • Simple & quick process - no punching of pages required
  • Pages can be added or removed
  • Wrap around covers create a professional flat finish that allows easy on shelf storage & trouble free posting

Cons

  • Binding strength isn’t as good as other systems – not recommended if you need to refer to your documents more than a few times
  • Documents don’t open totally flat
  • Machines have a warm up time & documents have to be left to cool
  • A number of different cover sizes are needed to bind all sizes of document

Paper Comb Binding

Pros

  • Binds from 2 to 200 sheets using only 3 sizes of paper combs
  • Flat finish allows easy on shelf storage & trouble free posting
  • Finished documents are totally secure (difficult to tamper with)
