Fastback Hardcover Process
The Fastback Hardcover process is quick and very easy to learn.
The following steps explain the Fastback Hardcover process:
Step 1
- Make a coverless book block by binding your pages in a Fastback machine using a linen strip or standard strip – instead of a cover, bind endleaves to the front and back of the book block
Step 2
- Measure the thickness of the book block using the Hardcover Guide and use the measurement to select the Hardcover with the correct spine size
Step 3
- Open the selected Hardcover, place it on the Hardcover Guide and then position the prepared book block on top of it
- Remove the thin strip of protective paper from the Hardcover and press the book block into pace. (At this point the book block can be repositioned if necessary)
Step 4
- Once positioning is correct, remove the remaining protective paper, first from the front and then from the back of the Hardcover. The entire book block can now be pressed into place completing the binding process.
